The list price for kitchens is a thing on its own – from what I gathered, it’s usually some high numbers that are then directly calculated with the various "modular systems," "running meters of kitchen," or whatever. At XXL, there were also statements like "we get 50% discount on Schüller, unfortunately I can’t do that for Häcker." In the end, though, the kitchen from both manufacturers costs about the same. I would consider the list price and the "discounts" irrelevant when buying the kitchen. What really helped us with the price determination was just comparing the similarly planned kitchen at different studios. As a layperson in this area, it is – I would say – hard to see through who has which margins and how the price finally shapes up. We had a kitchen studio where planning was done together with us, and there was a small window in the planning tool showing the current list price of the kitchen. It kept getting higher and higher, way above our planned budget, but we were told to ignore the price. At the end of the planning, the planner clicked around a little on his screen (not visible to us) and suddenly the price was reduced by more than 50%. Who’s supposed to understand that...

That's how we did it with the first kitchen as well. We had comparable plans calculated by different providers. To be honest, there wasn't usually much difference. We then bought it where it was also planned so nicely for us. We were also extremely satisfied with the kitchen studio, but unfortunately, this time they are located 550 km too far north. :)

Nevertheless, I am not giving up on the first price yet. We will have the kitchen planned at another kitchen studio as well, but again from scratch. Let's see what they come up with. They received the same preliminary information from us ([Checkliste was die Küche können/haben soll], and [den Grundriss]). Maybe they will come up with something completely different. The first studio also planned very close to the design of the architect that was shown in the floor plan. Although I don't find that bad at all in general.

If you want to frustrate yourself, read the book "Clever Küchen kaufen". There is no single list price

We had a free kitchen planning, so there was no fixed manufacturer. Mentally, I was leaning towards Nobilia since I had it before and was satisfied.

For the new house, I had some things from the previous kitchen incorporated into the plan because they fit well into my daily routine.

I also communicated this to our kitchen studio. The owner of the kitchen studio strongly recommended Häcker. In the end, we went with them, thinking that the cabinets were basically the same.

But that is not the case. The cabinets I used in my daily routines before do not have the same interior dimensions as the Nobilia cabinets. So now my storage containers do not fit in the cabinets designated for them in terms of height. Honestly, that annoys me a lot. And I wish I had stubbornly stuck to my wish for Nobilia cabinets :rolleyes:

Just as a hint, maybe you have similar plans and can pay better attention than I did...

Is the book generally recommendable?

As always, you are three steps ahead of me and pave my life path. :) Thanks.
Mentally, I’m also still relatively stubborn about Nobilia. If I consider how the first plan already stretched our budget, and the assumption that Häcker is even more expensive, it will probably be Nobilia again for budget reasons. I really had absolutely nothing to criticize about the furniture. I also found the drawers very smooth-running.

I really am glad if it helps you!

No, Häcker was not more expensive than the previously planned Nobilia.. To be honest, I can no longer remember why we switched to Häcker at all, but something must have (unfortunately) convinced us back then..

And to be honest, I still haven't really been able to settle in / get used to it.. That’s really annoying..
