Good example of wasting money, because this measure does not solve the cause

why are we then having the discussion here with extremes?
Who is actually affected how?

That Blankenese is five times more expensive than Pinneberg is not really new

The question is whether, given the property prices and rents in metropolitan areas, it might eventually make more sense to take a possibly somewhat lower-paid job in the outer surroundings. For those in need of culture, one could probably still treat oneself to a weekend in a hotel in the city.

and here in Berlin the whole city is full of Berliners and newcomers desperately looking for apartments, thanks to the rent control

Not all good companies are located in metropolitan areas/large cities. Many are now building outside the city, such as Tesla. And for some jobs, switching is not a problem. For example, I, as a hospital controller, receive at least one job offer per week, even directly from other hospitals. It is often a matter of will. I can also understand that if you have worked in a company for 10 years, switching is not easy...

I lived in Berlin for 9 months. I don't feel like going out on the street and immediately encountering hundreds of people. I'm a country bumpkin anyway. I'd rather go to the village/countryside and if I need to go to Berlin, then just take the train for 40 minutes and you're at Alexanderplatz. And that brings us to the second downside of Berlin. I, who live in the countryside, now have a shorter route to Alex by public transport than before, when I lived in Berlin :)

I have now been with my employer for 14 years, who is actually located right in the middle of the city. Luckily, I don't have to come to the office, and it looks like even after the corona times (will they even come at all, if this thing mutates so often) no attendance requirement will be enforced unless it is necessary for the position.
In this respect, even though I am building in Berlin (for family reasons), I am already planning to move away in 5-10 years. We'll see...

That’s true regarding the transport routes. There are sometimes such public transport holes where it takes at least an hour for maybe 10 km as the crow flies.
On the other hand, with a bike, the risk of being knocked down by a Ukrainian truck increases infinitely.
By car, it simply takes even longer unless you drive when everyone else is sleeping...

I used to be one of those who only wanted to live in the city.
That has changed very much with family and corona.
