That's what I meant - the energy consultant really has to develop into a genuine energy consultant. Currently, it is almost impossible to find a REAL consultant who not only meets the requirements for subsidies or building applications. And the sector also needs to break free from the lobbying of the insulation industry to develop a greater variety of solutions.

The electricity price is currently also rising to an immeasurable level; we are currently at 50 cents per kWh. The electricity price is based on the last required power plant (merit order principle). If we shut down the gas power plants, there will be a blackout; almost every country is ramping up their power plants to compensate for the disastrous nuclear power policy of the French (I am not an opponent of nuclear power, but coupling all nuclear power plants to one river feels pretty stupid). There are nice illustrations explaining the whole principle. For no gas power plant to determine the electricity price anymore, we would have to ramp up about 6 more on top of the existing 3 nuclear power plants (unfortunately no longer possible). Even with coal and oil power plants in reserve, it's not enough :D The only thing we could do to power the winter without much gas would be: build wind turbines, build, and build again.

In short: We have to generate electricity from gas.

I admit it, I am also a bit spiteful and accordingly curious about how some smart home residents feel during a blackout. Ahem. Which is not least because the electronic locking solutions cause me the most trouble at work.

There are now some plans for that. Turning off light panels. But saving so much electricity that gas power plants drop out of the merit order or electricity generation will never happen. Gas power plants are also great for buffering peaks, for that reason alone we will continue to generate electricity from gas. Besides, our strategy relies on gas power plants (NS1 and NS2), for which we received an outcry from the entire EU as to why we rely completely on Russian gas (remember Schröder, who abused his power, got NS1 approved, and then ended up on the Gazprom supervisory board, for which we were accused of state corruption). The fact that this all is backfiring on us is based on mistakes made over the last 20 years. If earlier governments had not politically slowed down the expansion of renewable energies in 2017/18, we wouldn’t have this problem today. But as the saying goes: "If, if, bicycle chain."

We will never be able to buy gas at cheap prices again. Electricity prices will not be low as long as we still generate electricity from gas. We have to switch our primary energy needs to renewables (i.e., heating with renewable electricity, operating blast furnaces with hydrogen/electricity). For that, of course, we need more electricity = more renewable energy installations. Luckily, not as many as the CDU and associates claim. The efficiencies of electric cars, heat pumps, etc., are much higher than previous solutions.

“It is the largest interest rate increase since the introduction of the euro: with a key interest rate hike of 0.75 percentage points to now 1.25 percent, the central bank is fighting against record inflation. For the current year, the central bankers expect higher inflation than previously assumed.”
