In this forum and especially on the last pages of this thread (what role do the increased construction costs actually still play?!?), some users interpret the written words of others in such a way that the "longer-standing" members of the forum must surely have meant things differently than the newly joined members have understood.

The sentence by is completely out of line and inexcusable!
If one were to judge their own words as critically as the floor plans/designs/remarks etc. of the other forum members, this probably would not have happened to her.

These are actually also my first posts; until now I have only been a silent reader.

The property is already paid for, our condominium sold, and the loan approved. We are building with a general contractor using solid construction, and our problem now is that we are about to sign the contract but the prices keep rising. We already signed an offer in December, but the prices have been increased twice due to the current situation, and the construction company can no longer give us a fixed price for the contract.

Because of all the increases, our buffer is almost gone, and we are now very worried that further increases will come during the construction phase which we ultimately will not be able to pay. To be honest, we don't know what to do now.

12 months ago at 800 €/t and not scarce.

A few weeks ago, before the situation in Ukraine escalated, there was an article in Focus about prices for building materials
Structural timber +77 %
Roof battens +65 %
Construction timber +61 %
Steel at that time also about 60%

But raw materials that are only processed further and arrive at the construction site have also become more expensive
Copper, bitumen, paints and varnishes

Thus, I hope that it is only a pause and not a real discontinuation. I am keeping my fingers crossed for a good solution for you.

It is not my intention to ridicule this. My point is that there is a reason why some things are forbidden (twisted Swastika, for example, certain greetings, etc.) and others are not. The above-mentioned saying, for example, as a cynical, disgusting distortion on the gates of concentration camps, is probably not generally known either. Nor is it known that there is no evidence of cultural creation before Nazi propaganda. Therefore, "kulturschaffend" is very likely even originally a Nazi word, while aphorisms like the above-mentioned or even the publicly criticized "Jedem das Seine" are sayings that were originally meant completely differently but were misused by the Nazis. Yes, one can certainly point this out and criticize it, but I think one should not assume that every person who uses such a saying is automatically aware of any abusive use by the Nazis, especially if neither the context nor the previous behavior of that person suggests this. By the way, I am neither purely ethnic German nor an AfD voter; I even have at least one family member who fell victim to the Nazis. Actually, alarm bells ring very quickly for me with right-wing language use, but in this case, in my opinion, it is obvious that this was not meant – not remotely.
