If someone from abroad works here, that’s okay, but for me that person will never be on the same level as a native, and that has nothing to do with racism. And your husband knows exactly that people see it the same way in Australia – rightfully so!From when on is someone considered native? My husband, for example, comes from a third country (Australia), immigrated here, does (still) not have citizenship, and works full-time here. Is he okay or should he be kicked out? Is he allowed to receive child benefits for our joint, mixed-nationality children? Parental allowance? I have asked this question to so many people (also directly, in real life), and the answer was always "no, he’s okay, I have nothing against him." Really?
