For some of the patients, neither. There are plenty of people who do not even notice the infection or have such mild symptoms that it has no impact.

It would be nice if that were the case. The true effects of Corona will only be determined in 10, 20 years, because a severe Covid illness, that is one that required hospital treatment, shortens life expectancy by years, in individual cases by decades.
