Discussions about whether things like heat pumps, photovoltaic systems, and the like are worthwhile are always tedious because everyone has to decide that for themselves and it depends on their individual circumstances. Just because it isn't worthwhile for one person doesn't mean it's the same for another. I think everyone is aware that the timing is currently difficult due to prices and many uncertainties. I also can't compare my situation from our construction nearly 7 years ago to today, but back then, for example, the main focus for me was on dependence on fossil fuels, which is why I didn't even compare the prices of gas heating to heat pumps. But when I consider that we would have first needed a gas connection in the house, a chimney, regular chimney sweep costs, and so on... then I think that at that time, the heat pump was not really more expensive than the gas heating. Especially when I see what some people pay for their heat pump today, back then those were still the costs for the entire heating & sanitary trade with all the trimmings. And the photovoltaic system from 2 years ago was also the best investment in the whole house. For us, the investment will have paid off after about 5 years and after that, we are saving. But just because that's the case for us, it doesn't have to be the same for everyone. Everyone should be able to best assess their own situation whether such purchases are worthwhile or not.
