Your problem is not the heat pump itself, but that your house builder wants to make a fortune on the upgrade. I also don’t know how you come up with a 15k surcharge. Unfortunately, I only have the offer for the Flair 110 electronically, but back then Town & Country wanted significantly less

I told you... the installer would currently offer me the heat pump for a 15,000 EUR surcharge, bypassing the general contractor. What happened back then doesn’t interest anyone anymore today. Back then, diesel cost only 1.159 EUR per liter, yesterday I refueled for 2.359 EUR ;)

Discussions about whether things like heat pumps, photovoltaic systems, and the like are worthwhile are always tedious because everyone has to decide that for themselves and it depends on their individual circumstances. Just because it isn't worthwhile for one person doesn't mean it's the same for another. I think everyone is aware that the timing is currently difficult due to prices and many uncertainties. I also can't compare my situation from our construction nearly 7 years ago to today, but back then, for example, the main focus for me was on dependence on fossil fuels, which is why I didn't even compare the prices of gas heating to heat pumps. But when I consider that we would have first needed a gas connection in the house, a chimney, regular chimney sweep costs, and so on... then I think that at that time, the heat pump was not really more expensive than the gas heating. Especially when I see what some people pay for their heat pump today, back then those were still the costs for the entire heating & sanitary trade with all the trimmings. And the photovoltaic system from 2 years ago was also the best investment in the whole house. For us, the investment will have paid off after about 5 years and after that, we are saving. But just because that's the case for us, it doesn't have to be the same for everyone. Everyone should be able to best assess their own situation whether such purchases are worthwhile or not.

Nobody claimed that either - most of the time it's only the photovoltaic faction that claims that ;) Ideology is simply obsession

I have photovoltaics + storage because I sat down and did the math - payback period 8 years (2020), by now we are at 6 years by saving on more expensive electricity.

I have my VW e-Up! because I sat down and did the math - offset of the additional cost compared to a conventional purchase 5 years. Back then diesel (1.15€), now I’m probably at 2-3 years. Since diesel costs 2.30€, I have stopped doing the math.

Overall: 10% ideology 90% because it pays off (2020)
Today? Such photovoltaics + storage could already be very expensive and only paid off in 15 years with luck. But nobody can see into the future; if 60ct/kWh becomes normal, then the photovoltaics that were expensive in 2022 will already be paid off in 10 years.
Because this here:

says the nice man from the check portal.

The most profitable for you has been photovoltaics and storage with the incredible kfw40+ subsidy.
