China currently generates 5% of its electricity from nuclear power plants. By 2040, it is planned that nuclear power plants will have a total nominal capacity of 150 gigawatts. So 1/7 of what renewable energies already produce in China today. Honestly, I do not understand the fuss here. With coal, it actually looks different; China is indeed the "world champion" there. But even then, I assume that for China this is a bridging technology that will be phased out sooner or later and replaced by clean energy.Unfortunately, yes. Because no matter how great your data may sound, you should mention the construction of new nuclear and coal power plants. And not only in China. I cannot tell you how long fossil fuels will remain cheaper; I have no crystal ball. But it would be nice if we took the first step before the second. We need energy now to stay competitive.
