Here is once again an example from practice that I have increasingly observed:
I am in the group "beim blauen f" from Town & Country and have followed the posts intensively over the last two years.
We earn quite well and have kept the finances very disciplined during the house construction. In other words: we mostly stuck to the standard and chose very nice tiles for ourselves without extra charge. Additionally, we did all the work on floors and walls ourselves.
We always had to rub our eyes in astonishment when it was constantly said in the posts and comments, "which special equipment tiles did you take? The normal ones are just not acceptable!!", "Who else didn’t have enough in the 10k sample buffer?" "Yes, 20k just for the bathroom and another 8k for electrical!!"
And the nice thing about blauen f is that you can see quite well from the profiles where the people come from.
Some also openly said that they went into additional financing because of the tiles from Italy.
Current situation for a few weeks now:
The topic of excessive special equipment and upgrades during construction is practically dead. No one asks about that anymore. Everyone is now looking to manage with the financing they locked in at a favorable rate.
So the effects are visible very quickly during the construction phase

Thank you for your post. Sensible approach and no megalomania.
