In the southern "speckgürtel" of Stuttgart, still 30 minutes by car away from the center, it is already like that... Prices of 1000€/m² are common.

Then just keep searching, or wait 1-2 years until the overheated market calms down a bit and simultaneously save some capital. Or join a gym to build muscles for own labor. Complaining doesn't help, only sensible decisions do.

No basement was already normal when we started planning in 2020. The "show-offs" with big huts on FB and IG build 99% in the outback. (Which is absolutely okay) What was always funny with us were the discussions. Once, a saleswoman and her car mechanic husband (honorable professions!) from the hinterland of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania snapped at us that you might as well give up building if you don’t even upgrade to concealed fittings in the bathroom. No joke. Yeah... as I said. Discussions from the "golden" low-interest refinancing times.

How is that supposed to work? Do they want to drive people into misery?

How? Are there still new bathrooms with surface-mounted fittings today? Who does such a thing?
