What people consider timeless now is beige, gray, and black, and in 10-15 years it will be seen as sterile, dead, and blah. This has happened before. The post-war modernism of the 1950s was then attempted to be made cozy or colorful in the 1970s and old-fashioned English in the 1990s. I would always try to arrange things so that they remain adaptable.

White with earth tones, never looks shabby, but also never super fashionable. Our bathrooms with Duravit D Code, Ideal fittings and 19.90 tiles are still almost like new even after 5 years of use.

Or you install something old-fashioned today, then it doesn't matter ;) I absolutely don't like all the modern stuff in the bathroom area, so I chose tiles and a washbasin that nobody would call modern.

we have typical Mallorca rubble stone as a wall.
looks incredibly classy - and it is :D
But there's no need to argue about taste.
If we don't like it in 10 years, we're out of luck. 20 years everything should stay in the bathroom for now

It's about construction costs here. And with masonry, you have no room for maneuver, but with bathroom, tiles, etc. there is definitely some. That doesn't turn a 500 thousand project into 300 thousand, but 15% is always possible. That's something.

So I treated myself to a timeless bathroom. A mix of Rosso Verona and Rosa Perlino. Window sills, shelves, and washbasin, all made of polished Rosso Verona. At first, I wanted to have the floor made of marble as well, but that is totally impractical. Therefore, I chose antique tiles in a matching color tone.

I think it has style and is tastefully timeless. Of course, not for lovers of modern design. The bathroom in the basement that still needs renovating will probably be a bit more modern.

But what does the construction industry and trade live on? On changes in style. Today everything is gray and white, tomorrow everything colorful again.
That keeps everything running!

You can argue about taste, as always. But you can't buy good taste. Many have neither a sense for color harmony nor spatial arrangement or simply don't understand the golden ratio. Probably never heard of it. One should definitely stay away from temporary fashion trends.
