You don't have to calculate everything financially. We do many things because we want to and not because we have to. We often sugarcoat a lot of it. I'm going to continue watching the Champions League final now and not think about what I could earn during this time.

I think if you’ve been working hard, you probably like to see it in a positive light, and if you didn’t want to do the work, you calculate it the other way around. In the end, you want to and should feel good about your decision for or against doing it yourself. Recently, we sanded and painted beams for 3 days straight because we wanted a special paint. Was it worth it?? No idea. I nearly lost a finger, luckily it was just badly crushed, and we were all dog-tired. We try to do what we can and what we also enjoy, regardless of calculations. That’s how it is with many topics here......Calculations are only part of the whole.

Determining the monetary value of the EL is not that difficult, is it?

For me, what the bank applies is relevant. And in the end, that is what emerges as wage services from the craftsman's offers for the self-performed work/trades.

This calculation doesn’t make sense at all. Or what do you understand by monetary value? The term is not familiar to me in that way.

Apparently not that easy after all. Don't worry, there are many ways to calculate it, depending on the result you want. Cost accounting is much more creative than generally believed. Depending on the goal and circumstances, you include one thing or another or not and take into account opportunity costs or not.

Well. So for the bank (and for me) the calculation is simple.

Offer from carpenter/painter for laying parquet 18 TEUR including labor costs of 6 TEUR.

If I lay the parquet myself, I save the labor costs and thus contribute EL worth 6 TEUR.

Provided I use paid vacation for this or "free" help from family & friends.
