Now our Hampelampel is thinking about a scrappage bonus for heating systems. I am about to lose my faith. Here are some costs for an energy renovation to make a house built according to the 1st WSchVO (1978) fit for a heat pump: 35K insulation, 20K windows, 10K radiators. Then the heat pump for 25-30K. Definitely worth it, right? Of course there are subsidies, I also get a loan, but how is that supposed to be managed in such a short time? And what about the pensioners who have worked hard for their little house for their retirement? Do 75-year-olds still get a loan? How is that supposed to be paid off? That is practically equivalent to expropriation. Last year I was still torn about what we should do (voluntarily). Now I am glad that our gas heating system was an economic total loss and that since 11/22 we have had a very good condensing boiler that will save us about 30% and will have amortized itself after about 7-8 years. We will now gradually bring the house up to date energetically, as it makes sense and is financially feasible. Because one thing is clear... it can’t go on like this, but please with sense and reason, and not the way our green children’s book author would like it!

My acquaintance has now paid 35k for an 8kw(p?) system and storage, or 29k net I think, I didn't ask, he just said 35k. I really find that quite a lot for the few panels and storage.

I'll put it in here:

We are in the final approval stage for the tiles of our terraced house. During the sampling, we chose graphite gray (dark gray) for all floors (kitchen, bathroom, guest WC) and light gray tiles for the corridors on the basement and ground floor (due to advice, effect on narrow corridors).

Now we are unsure whether everything should be uniform (graphite gray). What do you think? Pros/cons?

Add the roof, and you end up at 100K. That makes a house built 55 years ago completely energy and technically fit for the next 20-30 years. As the first owner, you would have to save about €150 per month from the start for this renovation, so €1/sqm. Of course, this does not apply to younger buyers; it is only meant to show the scale of the necessary provision. For the current retirees who have lived there for 30 years, one could ask where the (low) provision has gone.

There is a lot of truth to that… I think it got squandered in brothels and casinos. What else is a married person (well, properly gendered?) supposed to do with the money?

But seriously: There was probably not much room for reserves. And whether insulation carried out in the 80s or 90s is still sufficient for a heat pump in the house is another matter. Nowadays, there is the "generation of heirs" who prefer to spend the money on Primark clothes (how sustainable) or superglue. Or on craftsmen!
