Construction costs are currently skyrocketing

In fact, in my opinion, the energy savings from controlled residential ventilation with heat recovery are also exaggerated in the energy consultant's calculation. For example, no one ventilates their house every 1-2 hours at -15°C. 1m3 of air has about 0.3 Wh/K.

At 500m3 and 10° temperature, that would be 1.5 kWh.

Nevertheless, controlled residential ventilation is simply comfort and luxury, just like automatic garden watering and robotic mowers.

If you want to reduce costs, you have to start somewhere.

No. True. No one does that. But you should air out every room for 10 minutes twice a day. And that even at -15 degrees. Energy is lost doing that. It's no coincidence that people have dealt with ventilation and recommend controlled ventilation. And whether someone doesn't do it is not up for debate, because no one does it, as they would be cold. That is the basic problem: no one does it because it does not provide comfort, on the contrary.

I wanted to point out that a central controlled residential ventilation system is primarily a comfort feature. 2. The costs do not amortize through energy savings.

On Friday, I had a brief moment that made me think a lot. Our boss had a 10m3 oil tank installed at the company. With an additional trailer that apparently has a mobile heater built in. I don’t know how a little bit of oil is supposed to help with 15,000m2 of space, but it was probably meant to bridge a period of time, perhaps to protect the machines by maintaining a base temperature.

Now I’m considering finally putting our fireplace into operation. And buying wood.

As a child, I often experienced these blackouts where we had no electricity for hours. As a child, it didn’t matter, but as an adult with children, it really makes you think. Maybe the oil heating owners with tanks are not so badly off this winter.

In many installations, there are then meter-long, moderately well-insulated cold air ducts from the air inlet/outlet to the controlled residential ventilation system in the house. This leads to additional losses; with 6m ducts, the heat recovery rate drops already from 0.9 to effectively 0.5. The devil is in the details. Controlled residential ventilation is comfort, saves a bit of energy in reality while providing better air quality, and is ridiculously expensive.
