Construction costs are currently skyrocketing

The sentence irritates me. You will have a construction service description that states (in pieces) what you will receive. This way, it is at least somewhat clear what you still need, such as sockets, lighting outlets, switches, network sockets (which are usually never included), ...

: Do you really still want casement windows?

In December 2020 we signed a one-year price lock contract. When asked, we were told that we don’t have to worry at all, they still have good conditions and wood in stock. We are building a solid wood house with a smaller (but not regional) supplier. The price remains the same for us. However, the house builder only does the shell, meaning we continue with our own work and individual contracting.

The heating/plumbing people already told us that prices will increase somewhat in November, but he won’t know how much until then.

The electrician told us in May that if we start at the end of the year, it will be €1,500 more expensive (on a total sum of €14,000). However, the first offer was also from December 2020.

With the house manufacturer, we only selected the front door and the windows. There it only got more expensive because we chose a different wood for the windows (+€1,450 for spruce instead of pine) and a different door handle set (€253) and RAL paint for the front door (€230).

So at times we were very worried, but it seems to be calming down slowly and so far it is absolutely bearable for us. And we have no large buffers.

For us, it came to about three times the number of sockets stated in the construction service description. In addition, there were individual room controllers for the heating, switches for the electric roller shutters, TV and network sockets, outdoor lamps and outdoor sockets, as well as a high-voltage connection. It all added up.
