I also need an hour in the city for the 20 km to work. Regardless of the means of transportation.
The "I can commute 2 to 3 times a week" distance to the big city has possibly been permanently upgraded by Corona. Small towns that offer everything locally up to high school benefit from this, except for well-paid corporate jobs. Including a part-time job for the wife in the town. The father would go under if he commuted 5 times, but with 2 or 3 days per week there is still room for sports or time with the children on the days working from home. And many will now consider this, especially with the antisocial prices in the 50-100km radius around Munich. Better to be 150-200km away from Munich right away, where it becomes affordable again; small town or village is also 50km from Munich. Only just twice as expensive.
I need about 1.5 hours for 150 km :). I'm practically traveling time-efficiently ;-)!
In my old office that wasn't really the problem: living in the city, working in the countryside. So always traffic jam on the opposite lane :p OK, the first 1500 m to the on-ramp with 3 traffic lights was a torture, sometimes I took longer for that than for the following 42 km...Where are there still such highways with a real (!) average speed over 100km/h around rush hour? Pure envy from me in NRW
