Here in Perth, even those of us who have a well are only allowed to turn on sprinklers twice a week for a maximum of 16 minutes each time from September 1st to May 31st, between 6-9 am and 6-9 pm. Watering by hand is permitted. In winter, June to August, sprinklers have been banned for about 20 years or longer. We have adapted to this and removed plants that consume a lot of water (except for the two bamboos?).
40% of our drinking water supply comes from local seawater desalination plants, and a new one is being built soon.
Although it has rained on average more per year here than in the Rhine Valley, where I used to live.
We have a swim spa, water consumption is low per year. I didn’t want a pool, it’s too boring for me.
