The example with 120m² of land for 1 million euros is certainly very extreme, but generally speaking, people do not want to move to the middle of nowhere. This is hard to imagine for those who have chosen a village, but the prices clearly show it: someone would rather pay the 1 million than live in a more rural area. I can understand that very well. I also chose the city over the countryside. Fortunately, the situation where I live is not yet as extreme as this crazy single example, which I can hardly believe myself.

Yes, life in the village does not have a good reputation. I have also often read things like "if you live in the village, you have at least a one-hour one-way trip to work," which suggests that there are no jobs in rural areas. In my immediate environment, I actually don't know anyone who drives more than about half an hour to work. Most significantly less. I personally, for example, drive less than 10 minutes. It is true that the cultural offerings are not as present as in the city, but in everyday life, people probably use them little anyway if they have to buy a house that is at the absolute limit of pain. Public transportation is indeed a disadvantage in rural areas. However, I personally cannot imagine living in a big city.

That is complete nonsense; with small plots, the chance is much higher that the children's playmates live nearby and can therefore play together without effort. A garden of 50m2 is sufficient to keep children occupied with enough stuff. Besides, one can see from time to time that neighbors who live close together have social skills and open their gardens to each other. So really, I find the quoted statement truly disparaging towards others and on top of that, it is also factually wrong.

How does one get to disrespectful from that? In the example I referred to, it was about a 120 sqm plot. There the house and parking spaces have to fit. And if you also want a terrace, how much garden is left? And why should it depend on the size of the plot whether playmates are in the neighborhood? I don’t understand that. My statement referred to the fact that many people want a house precisely because they have their own garden, etc. But that is very, very limited with a 120 sqm plot. There is hardly any 50 sqm garden left.

I believe the parking space is separate. But it also costs extra. With maybe a 50-60sqm house and a 10sqm terrace, about 50sqm garden could remain. Sandbox, slide, and swing take up space.

Hehe. By now, you have to pay a million around Starnberg for a village as well. Easily.
