Exactly, and after that I'll hang myself... It doesn't have to be meat every day but if I can only eat potatoes or eggs then I might as well give up.

This figure comes from a housing benefit calculator. The high amount results from the fact that in the given example, one working adult lives together with three children entitled to child benefits. Therefore, in this case, the rent would almost entirely be covered by the authorities.

Regarding the comments about potatoes and eggs: These were just two example products that are regionally cheaper. Of course, there are also other products that are cheaper or cost about the same and from which tasty dishes can be prepared =)

I find the development interesting as well and think that, among other reasons, this is why most people nowadays want to study. After 3 years (Bachelor) you are an academic ... sounds good already. :)

That's typical nowadays. You name a few examples and some people immediately say they don't want to live on just that :D.
At our farm shop, hardly anything is more expensive than in the supermarket. However, some things are only available seasonally. A lot of products come from within a radius of only about 10 kilometers. That naturally eliminates various middlemen.

I know two hairdressers. Both of them can easily pay for their monthly groceries with their tips. And a hairdresser who doesn't cut hair on the side is rather rare ;).
Neither of them has complained about their monthly income so far.

That person seems to know what they’re talking about, where does that come from? :D and still your calculation doesn’t add up… never full-time with 3 kids 2-4-6… and practically rent-free… never.

But the regional store still needs to be opened where all of that is cheaper.

Sometimes I really wonder here…

I've been interested in that for a while now. In our neighborhood, there are 3 hairdressers whose husbands also did not attend university (which of course doesn't mean anything) and who obviously could afford these houses for 1 million.
Sure, it could also be an inheritance....
But the majority of our neighbors work as lawyers, teachers, doctors, engineers...

I've definitely thought about the fact that tips might considerably increase the income for some good hairdressers and it might not be as financially "bad" as one often hears.

Well, just some thoughts, I’m well aware that there can be a thousand reasons for everything.
