Would you also have withdrawn if your hometown had been as expensive as Munich, and you could only have afforded a small 3-room apartment there? You are lucky now that you can relatively easily build an expensive new house again. I meant "great" new house, not "expensive"

I am quite pragmatic about this. If you have the dream of a house, but it’s not possible in the area, then you should look for another area. Germany is very large and there are many places where you can build very well and still at moderate prices.

Then rather live crammed with 4 people in the 75sqm city center apartment for rent. Yes, that makes sense.

So, I understand the main place of life as the location where one earns their money. At 20, studying or training; at 25, job and change of residence/own apartment; at 30, finding a partner and possibly a new job/place to live; at 35, family growth and job stability; then at 40, nest searching or nest building after building up a budget.
And here you come and talk about "cheap areas," pragmatic moving away, etc. That's a bit narrow-minded from homeworkers :(

That saying isn’t the smartest either. The more specialized the training, the rarer the job market. If you work as a commercial clerk or medical assistant, you don’t earn enough anyway. Also, personality development has somewhat derailed here: you’re supposed to do one (or several) profession(s) for 40 years that makes you happy. The specialization usually comes little by little. Promotion, happiness! You don’t say, "no, now the career is over, otherwise I won’t get a job somewhere else later."
If everyday happiness works out, many manage just fine with the mentioned 75 sqm in a nice city center environment. You arrange your life differently there... maybe the inner values are a bit more valuable :cool: I’ll leave aside that many want to polish their personality with a house and car.
From my past (training), I knew many city dwellers who had no ambitions whatsoever to own a house or live out in the sticks.
But you don’t read their opinions and views in a house-building forum. However, they are not a minority.

Apparently, you chose that yourself. I also initially had a somewhat exclusive career aspiration back then (paper engineer), but it was quickly made clear to me how limited the job market is. Instead, I then chose general electrical engineering, for which there are practically job openings in every district.
