Then please don’t respond to it anymore! At least that’s starting to annoy me too.

With all due respect, everyone should in turn take a look at themselves and refrain from waving the red flag at every opportunity or discrediting other forum members and their posts. I do not refer to you personally only, but have observed for weeks how quickly and willingly the collective club is swung as soon as one person starts hitting.

Stay factual and either respect other opinions/statements or put the respective person(s) on the ignore list if it bothers you so much to read their posts.

The constant "personal attacks" and very regular statements like "don't feed the troll" are at least just as out of place and certainly do not contribute to a better forum atmosphere! Those who preach tolerance and freedom of expression should also live by it instead of silencing dissenters at every opportunity.

Well, I come from Dresden and know the housing and real estate market here. Getting 750 sqm in Hellerau for €180k is utopian. There can only be a catch. Prices for Dresden city in this size usually range between €350-450k. There have also always been prices of €500-750k in the urban area. Hellerau is rather on the outskirts of Dresden.

My statement regarding quality of life referred to the location of Hellerau: built directly on the highway, separated only by a low noise barrier. The airport is practically within sight at a distance of 1 km. So in addition to the noise from the highway, you constantly have the noise from starting and landing airplanes. And I do consider that a significant reduction in quality of life. If you look for a somewhat quieter area, like Radebeul adjacent to Dresden, you will see that here too prices of between €44 and €500 per sqm are being called for. There are also equally more expensive plots here, just as there are cheaper ones in Stuttgart than the one you mentioned.

The available income per capita is €20,000 in Dresden and €25,000 in Stuttgart, thus about 1/4 higher.

Long story short: comparatively, it is cheaper to build in Dresden than in Stuttgart, but still expensive =)

Today, it is basically no longer possible to build a detached single-family house in Stuttgart and the surrounding area. Certainly, there are exceptions, but basically it is not possible. There are building plots for 1 - 2 million.

Politically, this is also not desired in Baden Württemberg.

In Dresden or Leipzig, you can still fulfill your wish for a single-family house. Maybe not in the city center, but still in the nearby surroundings.

The development is not only leading to extreme price increases here in our country. In the USA, it is much worse than here. There, an annual income of 60,000 USD now counts as the poverty-threatened lower class. Ten years ago, that was a well-off middle class.

There is a video about food inflation in the USA. Very enlightening. A kilo of flour for 8 USD, a small piece of cheese over 10 USD. Eggs for 6 $, a small bread - about the size of a hand - 5$ etc. Many can no longer afford that. Meat is almost unaffordable. Restaurant prices are prohibitively expensive. 100 dollars are nothing there.

A normal weekly grocery shopping now costs 5-600 dollars there.

Or as a farmer said to me yesterday. Rough times are coming for us. Certainly not an opinion based on scientific data, but rather a case of farmer’s cunning.

Honestly, I don’t know the video and I have the following opinion or own experiences regarding current food inflation:

I see that some products have become much more expensive, yes, in part have doubled in price, like the supermarket brand passata tomatoes or the supermarket brand flour.

But I notice that the products mainly from regional farms and often also bought directly from the producer have always been more expensive than the supermarket brands. The regionally produced products have not risen in price nearly as much; this includes eggs, milk, butter, potatoes, meat, flour, vegetables, cheese, coffee, wine, juice, and pasta. These have hardly increased in price, which leads to the gap between supermarket brands produced somewhere in the world and regional products sometimes being only 10 to 20 %.

Long story short: It always depends on what I buy. I have previously paid attention to quality and regionality. These products have always cost more, but they were not shipped halfway around the world and do not clog up the roads.

Whether these products now cost a few cents more or less than comparable products honestly does not matter to me, because it is still cheaper for us. Practical example: The 500 g cheese pack costs 6 euros at the discount store, so the kilo is 12 euros. But I know that we will eat so much cheese until we are full and probably 1/3 to 1/2 will end up in the trash because we will overstock it.
At the weekly market, I pay 4 euros for 200 g, so the kilo is 20 euros. But I know that we will eat this piece with enjoyment and will not throw away a gram.

Which cheese is now the cheaper one?
