Perhaps the homeowner should think a little beyond their own garden fence. If Germany comes with export restrictions, then the response could mean import restrictions or tariffs on other goods. I don't think anyone would take any action that, for example, could affect the automotive industry.

Why shouldn’t the EU temporarily reduce timber exports to get out of this emergency? Russia will completely ban the export of roundwood from next year. After all, wood is an important building block to achieve the climate goals.

Also think that export bans are not the solution.

However, it is definitely reassuring that the issue has reached politics and hopefully a political decision will be made in June.

Nothing happens. Raw material prices fluctuate, that is normal and bearable. The outcry is only loud now because it directly affects the end customer and, moreover, people were used to bargain prices.
