On the topic of "climate refugees," I am not quite so pessimistic because I think most people will relocate within their immediate vicinity (and not flock to Europe by the millions). However, if that were the case, I believe this issue will already affect us (I am 29 years old), and not only subsequent generations. Climate change has indeed taken on quite a dynamic ...

Absolute agreement.

Rather not. Let's strike out the buzzwords and look at it soberly. On the one hand, supply with solar or wind is anything but guaranteed. At night you simply don't have sun and also not always wind. So you need storage or backup. On the other hand, with photovoltaics, wind, etc., you have almost all the costs at the beginning. Bad if you have no money, are barely creditworthy, and accordingly pay high interest rates. Developing and emerging countries therefore prefer to build a cheap coal power plant and then pay for the coal when it is consumed. That may be more expensive after 20 or 30 years than an "renewable" system right away, but the difference is simply many years of having electricity or not having electricity. And without electricity it is absolutely certain that there will be no economic development.

As a liberal economist, you can surely help me with my math problem: If there is a loan on a house worth X of 0.2*X, how do I then inherit debts as a child? Wouldn't I actually inherit assets of 0.8*X? So no expropriation, except in the highly qualitative headline. Hardship cases without the possibility of a normal loan should of course be helped (e.g., interest-free loan with repayment from the inheritance).

With the mentality of always just explaining why something doesn’t work when, we really don’t get very far. ;) Eventually, renewable energy generation will be far cheaper than fossil fuels – that fact alone will settle a lot. There are indeed investors who initiate such projects abroad and have solar/wind parks built.

Well ... if I inherit a house worth €250,000 and also debts of €50,000 because the heating was renovated beforehand ... I think there are much worse things. ;)

Back to the original topic ... could it actually be that building is so expensive because so much botched work has to be meticulously corrected? I had quite a commotion today because someone didn't understand the concept of a combined shaft and our house was connected to the rainwater sewer. It was only discovered by chance. The shaft cover was broken and when removed it completely shattered and damaged the "rainwater" pipe. It was wet and smelled like sewage, while the channel beneath was bone dry. The cover was still on. Back then, two shovel loads were saved with the big excavator, now everything has to be dug up again... I'm just glad it was discovered now and not after we had completed the landscaping.
