Maybe you should explicitly start a steel prices thread ;)

But maybe others should just open a chit-chat thread. I find it so unfortunate that threads keep getting shredded. In the photo forum, there's mainly text as well.

Eventually every (even interesting) topic is exhausted. Even steel prices ;)

It's not as if you have to delight yourself with anyone's steel prices every day. Unfortunately, this forum still lacks an off-topic section.

Yesterday I chatted with a managing director of a general contractor here in the region. There are continuous price increases and delivery times are getting longer, but in his view everything is still within limits. Windows take 3 months, but with good planning that's (still) not a disaster. Last year with wood was worse, he says. He doesn't have any stalled construction sites.

Great, these are the infos that in my eyes belong here. Not whether I want to live in the countryside or the city (on the topic of "construction costs"). In any case, it's not just about reinforcement steel for me, but that is apparently currently the biggest worry factor.

My general contractor has now rented a huge warehouse in the industrial area and orders a lot in advance due to price increases and delivery times. Above all, the [LWWP] have an order time of almost every 8-12 months, some are only available again from 2023.
However, the situation seems to remain at a similarly high level and daily price explosions have become less frequent.
