Construction costs are currently skyrocketing

IT & software jobs now also have a lot of full remote options. We both do that now and are very satisfied with it, especially since it allows us to relocate to our family. After more than 12 years, I had already stopped believing in that. Before Corona, jobs were very location-bound. The move would have required finding both a new apartment and two new jobs down there. Now we can move and simply keep our jobs. :)

I spoke with a craftsman on Friday, also about the topic "new roof". The customer had considered having his roof redone last year (battens, membranes, tiles). It would have cost €40k. But then Corona got in the way and only now does he want to place the order. It still works quite well. The only downside: instead of €40k, it now costs €70k. Bad luck or procrastinated too long. As I already wrote two pages earlier, we were at the carpenter on Thursday.
Order: Gable roof without eaves, roof pitch 42 degrees, rafters 8x22, insulation on the roof with 6cm wood fiber boards from Gutex (we will do the insulation between the rafters ourselves), attic ladder, collar beam OSB 22cm, roof covering with flat tiles Creaton Domino (approx. 160m2) ....

We now have an offer (fixed, without price adjustment): 34k
I think that's okay and I think we'll accept it without counteroffers.
The conversation with the boss was clear and professional, the offer came quickly. I don't find the price exaggerated either (with insulation on top of the rafters and attic). By the way...BW.
