It’s very simple: Because a portion of voters, whom you don’t want to miss as vote cattle, vote for the AfD because of its right wing.

The major parties and the SPD also use this wing strategy. But if a party already occupies the conservative edge, then the right wing is… right. In the multiple senses of the word.

And to keep such a wing alive, you also have to give it crumbs of top positions.

That may be, however, I have the feeling that it is precisely the moderates who are being pushed out one after the other and actually only extremists remain. That is exactly why they remain unelectable for a majority of conservative voters and "non-coalition partners" for the other parties. I haven't seen that now. But Ms. Weidel usually gives some of the best speeches in the Bundestag election. I think very highly of her, that woman has got something in her head. If you look at the Green women like Ricarda Lang, Emilia Fester or Göring Eckard in comparison, one could really feel sick from so much incompetence.
