I'm curious to what extent the technology will develop further. Just today, I read again in a widely distributed home building magazine an article with the note "But precisely the air heat pump has a decisive disadvantage: the noise." The article is from 04/19/2022, and I thought in the meantime that the noise problem had been resolved (this is also communicated frequently here in the forum). I hope so, because if they become mandatory, it could be unpleasant if the noise problem is not solved. Especially since some owners might want to skip regular maintenance over time for cost reasons.
The technology will not develop further. It has existed for over 50 years (as a heat pump). As a refrigerator since the mid-19th century. And noise is relative. Mine is also very quiet — except when it heats up to 60 degrees supply temperature for hot water.
Apart from that, they only make "noise" in winter anyway, when you are inside the house with closed windows. And ground-source heat pumps are not heard at all.
One should rather be concerned about electricity consumption if everyone switches to heat pumps and also has an electric car in the garage.
