Colleague works at a building materials dealer - currently he is allowed to pick up a maximum of 2 truckloads of bricks per week at the factory

"In the long run, we are all dead" (J.M. Keynes)
In other words: the construction project will have become obsolete by then.

We are still in contact with our general contractor, with whom we built in 2021. The second price increase of this year is now due. This means that prices have risen by more than 30% within 6 months. Current homebuilders have to pay a 2% surcharge for increased energy costs. And 15 houses have been postponed because steel could not be procured.

We are in Bavaria and unfortunately need a lot of steel for our house (construction start at the end of May). The shell builder did not mention any delivery problems, but we are only getting a daily price for steel. The current offer is 25,000 euros more expensive than two weeks ago.

Next week we will discuss with our construction engineer when we bite the sour apple.

How many tons of steel do you need? Does the 25k€ surcharge relate solely to the steel or to the total cost?
