I have an important question. If gas is now more expensive/will be more expensive, will gas grills then become cheaper? :-)

Nope, they will also become more expensive. They were welded with gas.

I do not know where this bold statement comes from, but if you look at the statistics, the city has more than doubled prices in the last 10 years, as probably in most other cities as well.

We also build rurally and far away from suburban belts, also far enough from Lake Constance to still count as a genuine holiday region. But even in that area, we were rather at 400k at the end of 2020 for a medium-sized, unrestored old building. That’s southern Germany for you.

I had to laugh at c), you can tell you’re just a city kid. If you have a decent shop in the village, you’re no longer in the countryside. The next supermarket from us is about 10km away in every direction.

Yes, I stand by that too. I would even accept a farm shop for groceries and a gas station for the rest. But it has to be comfortably reachable by bike within 10 minutes.

Only once I wasn't in the city but in a suburb of the village. That's where I set the 2 km limit. It was just exceeded there and it was awful.

When I always read through this thread, I sometimes doubt whether I really am a village kid.

It feels like everyone here thinks that a village necessarily has more cattle than inhabitants and is off the beaten path of any civilization.
