I don't think so. Without children, this clientele would buy condominiums or continue renting in order to have short distances to work and the recreational offerings of the big city. Without family planning, for example, we certainly would not have built.
From the sample of those who have actually started with us so far:
- 3 x retirees (Stuttgart, 2x NRW)
- 1 x woman from the town, mid-50s, in a relationship but does not want to move in with her boyfriend
- 1 x unknown (rumored to be a childless couple in their 50s...)
- 1 family from the town
- 1 family from the Lake Constance region
- and us as a family
That already covers a large part of the 20 plots. Rumor has it that a family with children and grandparents is coming to one of our neighboring plots, but nothing is confirmed. The last building application in the municipal council was also quite a while ago. Given the construction costs and interest rates, I also highly doubt that an average family would start now.
Even in the first section of the development area (about 10 years ago), the proportion of families was certainly at most 50%. We are talking here about a village with currently 360 inhabitants in a rural region.
I really don't understand where the idea comes from that without children one automatically prefers a condominium. And with the necessary money from 20+ years of work, building is simply much easier than in your early 30s when children are still coming.
