Then selling the house and moving into an affordable small semi-detached house or apartment would make sense again. You can then use the money properly.

I didn’t want to attack anyone personally, but that really happens (with the shopping situation).

No no, as cheaply as we financed the house, we could never live even remotely similarly in a rental. We didn’t build that big after all. That’s fine.
However, I am also someone who does not see a plot of land as something arbitrarily replaceable. This is my created realm; they will only carry me out in a box here.

I was also referring to apokolok’s statement that people could calmly work a little longer.

There is that documentary... Pappa ante portas ;)

For my part, I also dream more of private early retirement than sitting in the office every day for 8 hours at over 70. The time in good health is limited and cannot simply be extended. I don’t really believe in large state support for this. Part of the demography will certainly be offset by productivity increases. But for social systems only work is relevant, while productivity is mostly driven by technology (=capital), which is initially left out and only finds its way into social systems indirectly through tax subsidies. Accordingly, one must become active oneself and invest capital. One more reason not to clump all the wealth in a house.

Walking… keeps you more mobile and agile than hanging around on the office chair for 8 (or 4) hours.

I know many… we have many civil servants with specialized knowledge. They stay a few years longer. But instead of 62, 65 years is still younger than employees with 67 :(

A marriage can also be great if you don’t want to spend every hour together.
My husband went into early retirement last year. I work. But I would also like to have some time alone sometimes. It’s difficult like this. He doesn’t always want to clear out for the hours. Now he’s doing some side jobs. That gives a good buffer and quality time for me :)

Of course. But not if it’s only one-sided and you get annoyed with each other during shared activities. Usually this happens when one or both have no own interests, hobbies, etc. It can also be a job like yours, which you do voluntarily.
