Cat prices are actually the same. I paid 80 euros for mine back then, now they go for 1000 to 1500 euros :D

Joking aside.... Somehow an insanely large number of areas are affected. Not just in construction.
An acquaintance who does plumbing won’t be able to do anything soon because they also can’t get material there. In the hardware sector, there are also some things no longer available.
Today we wanted to shop for a guinea pig pen... Many models currently not deliverable.

That's right, for over a year now we have hardly been able to purchase (and deliver) notebooks at least for certain price-sensitive areas. The same has applied to gaming graphics cards (doesn't really affect us) for months. "Normal" PCs, workstations, and servers are fortunately hardly affected. Now it seems to be the same with control units in the automotive industry (due to a poor forecast?)

But now things couldn't have gone worse – our fixed price guarantee expired before the start of construction (6 months passed and no building permit yet). Now we have to nervously wait and live with the uncertainty of how badly the price increases might hit us. Is there anyone here who is also currently building and can share such an unfortunate experience? The general contractor says he first needs to secure the facts and get the new offers, but doesn’t expect the cost volume to increase drastically. Still, we are extremely worried; if there’s a 30% price increase all of a sudden, it would simply be unbearable despite the buffer.

We will receive the building permit in mid/end of July. The work contract is not yet concluded, but the offer and prices are fixed in writing. Prices apply until the end of construction :-) For us, it won't be about money, but whether the items can be delivered on time.
