Yeah, no joke, I ordered some wood and within 2 weeks because I took too long to decide, I had to pay a 30% surcharge for it. The €2500 was 4 weeks ago, now it’s €3000 :D. Copper is now unaffordable, insulation too, wood obviously. Oh yeah, also concrete and iron.

Actually, it goes completely through like this! Now there are also the manufacturer standard seasonal price increases between 2 and 5%, basically on everything.

I also believe that performance should be rewarded. But I think the definition of valuable performance needs to be redefined. If a manager spends 70-80 hours a week firing people, have they achieved more than an intensive care nurse working 35 hours in shift work? Especially up to 10 times as much? Or let’s take it a little less exaggerated: I am a number cruncher and, as far as I know, earn about 2-3 times as much as a trained nurse without shift allowances. Do I contribute 2-3 times as much as they do? I would say no. And of course, I am not saying that people like me should earn less. But many people should earn much more for what they do.

Cheap polemics!

Firstly, this is not the daily business of a senior executive, especially not something they would compete for. And secondly, yes, he has, if by laying off a few employees today he can prevent the layoff of the entire workforce through the insolvency of the company the day after tomorrow.

What would be gained by employing only third-rate senior executives (whom you would get for a relatively low salary) who would then let the whole company along with all livelihoods go under? It's not that a high salary would prevent it – but it simply makes it less likely!

Why so aggressive right away? I gave an exaggerated example.
One could say that if insolvency can only be averted by laying off many employees, management must have done something very wrong for a long time beforehand. Especially since that is an argument often put forward by entrepreneurs, but one can tell just as many cases where mass layoffs follow the most successful business years in the company’s history. In this respect, we can find examples for everything. But the question still remains whether such work should really be valued 10 times more than work in healthcare, on which human lives also depend.

I don’t understand your second part. I explicitly pointed out that I don’t want to take anything away from managers (so I’m not criticizing companies for paying managers so much), but rather that I would assign a significantly higher income to certain professions (this is to be understood as criticism of society).
In that respect, your argumentation is pointless because it does not even address my suggestion.

Come on, if we’re going to destroy the thread topic here, then let’s do it properly! “Since when does performance pay off? Who among you has colleagues who do nothing but always get their raise on time?” Have fun :p

If inheritance is defined as a benefit, then it definitely pays off. Ultimately, we live in a caste system where background and the associated social connections are the career booster number one. With diligence, talent, hard work, and self-sacrifice, one might make it to middle management. However, leadership positions are ultimately filled through networks.
