Nothing is necessary at all. Gas is currently the cleanest way to use fossil energy. ... It is only true necessity that really makes people inventive.

You forget the solar thermal system, which was/is basically mandatory for new buildings with gas.

And the blending of hydrogen.

On the one hand, more hydrogen is not possible because the pipelines cannot handle it. On the other hand, the current hydrogen is neither green nor cheap. And even if it should ever be green, heating with it then simply costs about ten times more (electricity) than with a heat pump. But hey - it’s a free country! ;-)

Tell me, what do you actually think will happen if the taxes on fossil fuels disappear? It's not just about oil and gas, but also the massive taxation of fuel. You can't seriously believe that electricity will remain cheap then? Electricity will be heavily taxed in the future to compensate for lost revenue.

If at the same time the massive subsidies for [Atom] and [Kohle] are discontinued, that fits again.
