And how often do you drive with a trailer? Once the new construction/renovation phase is over. Twice a year? With a Smart EQ, she has of course coincidentally chosen an electric car with an extremely small battery and a high price. She should take a look at the electric Corsa. And the fact that there is no suitable charging station in Berlin is also very bad luck.

2030 is soon. And seriously: by then, fossil fuel will cost about the same. At some point, the break-even point will come, and then you can drive climate-neutrally without forcing anything regarding e-cars. Since new purchases will happen anyway, as I said, I am in favor of a CO2 pricing on all goods. That makes sustainable behavior significantly more attractive than throwaway thinking. E-mobility is one building block among many. But it cannot be the sole way.

Right. By far the worst car in terms of range. We also have this little car, but only as a pure city car.

Smart is about to release an SUV (similar to the Countryman), which has plenty of space and range.
You don't hear anything bad about the Corsa E. The selection by now is good.
"I can't find the right electric car" is, to me, an excuse.

For me, rural population is not the resident of a newly built house on a postage-stamp sized plot;). With somewhat larger plots with, for example, established trees, you need the trailer a bit more often, possibly you also need wood for stove or fireplace, etc.

And daughter-in-law simply wants a Smart, not a Corsa. By the way, the E-versions of those are often quite inexpensive if you have a business.

There are many charging stations in Berlin, but just not there.

I only wanted to point out that an electric vehicle is often not suitable for rural populations, at least not yet. Maybe that will change someday. But I don’t want to plan my trips based on whether I find a suitable charging station somewhere, have to consider whether I can quickly leave again because the car might not be recharged yet, and so on.

First of all, you can count those with their own trees on one hand, and secondly, you can have wood for the stove and fireplace delivered cheaply.

Haha, natural gas will be the most important energy source for the economy and industry in the next 10 years.
We want to get out of coal and nuclear power.
Just look at the spot prices, yesterday 400€/MWh electricity
140€/MWh gas.
Natural gas storage in Germany is almost empty, it feels like.
