If you can, be independent. District heating and local heating are theoretically great and clean concepts. In practice, however, you are at the mercy of a provider. I would avoid that if possible.

Air-to-water heat pump was subsidized by BAFA with 45%. I think you are quite self-sufficient with it. You "only" need electricity. No gas, no oil, no connection to the network. Let's see if this decision was right...
