You just have to imagine it simply, in practice a transfer within a federal state is often already a years-long struggle. Not to mention a transfer between states.

First of all, it depends on the federal state; secondly, as a tenured teacher, you can't necessarily build a fancy house anywhere. You earn pretty well, but no one becomes rich from that.

I also find it really tiring how you try to lecture everyone and everything here and present your point of view as the only true one.

I'm glad you're so flexible and have had a much better upbringing than most others—unfortunately, that's not really noticeable right now. I find your condescending manner really unpleasant.

Sorry for getting a bit personal now, but there’s a limit, and one should also not always force the complexity of individual people and life situations into a very limited mold.

wow! 5 minutes ago I actually wanted to read about what’s new regarding exploding construction costs, but now I’m almost an expert on the topic of teacher exchange. Apparently, I ended up in the wrong forum...

Sorry for continuing with OT here, but in my opinion, it cannot be the solution that average earners are “forced” to move to other federal states. I originally come from one of the most popular holiday regions in Europe, and there are areas where locals, if they want to leave their parental home, usually have to move away unless they have inherited something, because only some celebrities or other very rich people can afford to buy something there. It somehow ruins a place when the young population has to move away and half of the houses remain empty most of the year. Of course, this is an extreme example, but even here in Germany there are definitely areas where building plots from the city/municipality are very difficult to afford for the middle class (and, as one user already described using the example of FFM, there are hardly any affordable 4- or 5-room apartments available). This naturally leads to some families preferring to move away. But it also leads to, for example, a shortage of teachers in Munich because young Munich residents tend to be interested in professions that allow them to afford life in the city.

And here we are at the main problem. The definition of wealth. My wife and I consider ourselves financially rich with a net household income of just under €6,800. And having a house or not doesn't play a role. Having a roof over your head and not having to worry that there isn't enough money for food are the most important things. In addition, having the possibility to easily travel every month and also eat out at restaurants. If that isn't wealth, then I don't know...
