Electricity can be generated universally, even decentralized by oneself, and unlike fossil energy sources, it is not subject to geopolitical disputes. You won't find anything better.

There is no question of electric heating; we must switch to renewable energy sources and replace/minimize energy from gas/oil/coal as quickly as possible.

whataboutandanyway... As he wrote, you have to make yourself independent from energy prices. You can generate electricity yourself to some extent and store it on-site. This way, you are partly protected from rising energy prices, or they have a much smaller impact. Of course, it's unfortunate if you recently opted for a gas heater, but then that was simply the wrong choice.

Yes, of course you can generate your own electricity. But that also costs money. If I invest 150k today, I have low heating costs for 20 years. If I don't invest anything today, I heat for 20 years for e.g. 60k. Sounds strange, but that's how it is. I have nothing against heat pumps and well-insulated houses. But pretending that every grandma has to renovate her terraced house from the 70s tomorrow at a six-figure sum because otherwise she'll end up in debt is too short-sighted. You have to look at it individually. If grandma's gas burner breaks down right now, it can still make sense to have a new one installed. In new buildings, I would probably avoid that as of today.

The path has already been decided, even in existing buildings gas will be phased out by 2025. Nothing will certainly become cheaper in the next few years.
