It was just in the press, China is buying up the wood at auctions, which then is missing for the German construction industry.
I would do the same as a private forest owner, whoever bids the most gets the contract...

Contrary statements are not my problem, if you slept badly, take it out on your colleagues instead of here? ;)

Here too. Had contact with a realtor 3 years ago. Last week he reached out and offered us a house. Even though we actively ended the contact back then, so he wasn't supposed to search for us anymore...
6 weeks ago, the building materials dealer had 0/45 WD gravel for just under €58 per m³. Let's see how it looks when I start with the front yard in September and order 25 m³... and no worries, flowers will be added too ;)

He can put laminated wood on the concrete staircase for all I care until he is able to deliver again... We are also trying to sample everything promptly even though construction doesn’t start until 04/23

Is this satire now or can it be discarded? Of course it is a question of price. Everything is available; it is always only about the price. Yesterday I looked for photovoltaic inverters, e.g. Fronius, at the usual big shops all were unavailable. Checked on idealo, oh wonder, actually available, but at double the price. Timber prices have gone well down again after their peak last year, even the end customer notices this in the hardware store. We had for a long time the price barometer “roof batten” here; they are normally available and affordable, as before. Even recently ordered an oak piece of furniture from the carpenter, delivery time three weeks. No problemo. But as I wrote recently, some people talk the crisis into existence. Add a bit of slow summer news coverage, and there you have the story.

Slept wonderfully. Just having brunch. And you? :D

Well, the posts/info are always only as good as the person who researched them…
That China buys it is nothing new… “we” then buy it back expensively  writes someone else in another “newspaper”…
