Construction costs are currently skyrocketing

A bit about construction (ancillary) costs:
- Archaeologist (required by development plan, demolition of old building from the 1960s in an area with 50 houses from the same era) - 1000 euros because there are "earthworks"...
- Dismantling electricity, gas: 1647 euros
- Conversion of water to construction water: 1040 euros
- Installation of construction electricity 1020 euros

Building application for house + 50sqm garage: 1020 euros

Yes, the construction (additional) costs can really be quite something!! Although I haven’t yet heard of having to involve an archaeologist. Were there perhaps rare finds or something similar in the neighborhood?

In my gas boiler, there is an antifreeze program active that kicks in when it is below 3°C outside and after the antifreeze delay (6h) has elapsed. So as long as the valves of the rooms are open, the heating circuits of the rooms also get warm, even if the rooms are sufficiently warm due to the fireplace. I have now completely deactivated the heating circuit in the settings. Since then, it has been quiet.

To say something about your consumption, more information is needed. How much living space, energetic condition of the house, which room temperature, which flow temperature. Then it could probably be assessed a bit better. Depending on the living area and insulation, 6m³ a day during the heating period does not sound too much.

Can someone here say roughly how much reinforcing steel or rebar is allowed to cost per ton at the current time? (as an end customer)

Leisure activities for the children either canceled. Or you think twice.. because it's expensive.

For the older one, swimming is suspended for 3 months because the backup heater can't handle it and the gas heater at the school is broken, spare parts not available.

Yesterday at gymnastics but in another school, 12.8 degrees in the hall.

Christmas market, mulled wine 4 euros.. a sausage in a bun 6.5 euros.

Vacation this year oh dear, sure you can stay in Germany but every region that offers a bit is super expensive. If you want to go away, e.g. Turkey 2 weeks from 5000 euros for 4 people. Alternatively by car to Croatia or Italy, with fuel prices and room prices on site not any better.

Luckily we have a good income, but even there the end is in sight, if one of us gets seriously ill then good night.

Enough venting..

First because of studies, then the children with studies, then bought a house (which we don't regret and we also don't want to whine!!). Just now we thought, yeah cool, now it's time, we have the money and bam, it becomes unbearably expensive. I don't want to complain, we are definitely doing well. But somehow you might think it should be possible to take a flight at least once. Even if it were Bulgaria. Something at least.
