Where do you get the wood? From the forester? And how did you find out about it? It’s not in the newspaper or anything.. Does anyone have tips on where to get wood (of any kind) cheap IN GENERAL??

A bit about construction (ancillary) costs: - Archaeologist (required by development plan, demolition of old building from the 1960s in an area with 50 houses from the same period) - 1000 euros because there are "earthworks" ... - Dismantling electricity, gas: 1647 euros - Conversion of water to construction water: 1040 euros - Installation of construction electricity 1020 euros Building application for house + 50sqm garage: 1020 euros

Yes, the construction (ancillary) costs can really add up sometimes!!
Although having to involve an archaeologist, I had not heard of that before.
Were there rare finds or something like that in the neighborhood?

Why do these costs occur:
"- Dismantling electricity, gas: 1647 euros
- Conversion of water to construction water: 1040 euros"
You do at least need electricity for the construction site/house, right?
And why conversion? Water is just water ;)

- Installation of construction electricity 1020 euros
Building application for house + 50sqm garage: 1020 euros
It wasn't nearly that much for us. About half?!

According to the development plan, an "archaeologically sensitive area" – well, the whole area has been dug, excavated, and gardened for 80 years now, but the development plan doesn’t care about that. It’s written down, it has to be – it’s not about sense. I find it fascinating, at least, who all stretches out their hand to share in the spoils. And then there’s always the big surprise why no one builds anymore, or why rents have to be at least 20 euros per sqm for projects to be viable.

We have an old building built in 1930 and about 105 m2. The roof is new (2017), almost all windows are triple glazed and also five years old. However, the walls are not insulated, double-shell masonry. The two short exterior walls are still covered with a Styrofoam/Drywall wall. Upstairs with bedroom and children's room does not really cool down (so far maximum down to 18 degrees). Living room and kitchen downstairs are now already quite cool at 16 degrees at noon. I have now turned up the flow temperature to 50.
