When heating with wood, a lot depends on what you burn (dry, wet, some leftover wood, trash) and how you burn it. The stove plays a certain role, but the user is much more important. If the user overloads the stove and allows air supply or the stove cannot draw enough air (keyword airtight house), it will smoke and stink even with the best wood.

I haven't read that. No idea where that is supposed to be. In our village, a lot of wood is also used for heating and nothing stinks horribly here. Feel free to drop by;)

Our neighbors renovated their house, installed an air heat pump, and yet they are having the formerly removed chimney rebuilt because they are getting a fireplace as a second heating option.

I don't know how much wood heating is used in the area. But the parents-in-law have a fireplace, and on vacation, we like to book accommodations with a fireplace. So far, I haven't noticed a smell. But well, that's subjective and my experience.

By the way, a miracle has happened here. After weeks of searching, a construction company is actually coming to us this week; they are interested in the contract to renovate our ground floor. They called back. To think you can still experience something like this .

I love, for example, the smell of burnt wood smell/fireplace smell.
I contacted 10 electricians in the area regarding applying for a house connection. 8 did not respond at all, 1 had no time, and the other would have done it for 150€, but then did not get back to me. Frustrating.

I would ask the utility provider. Maybe they know someone.

Apply for house connection from the electrician? Here in Bavaria or rather in my city, we were able to do that ourselves. The form is available on the supplier’s website. Filled it out and sent it. Our electrician wanted a 50A HAS and a 35A pre-fuse. We then applied for 63A HAS and 50A pre-fuse. It costs a few hundred euros more, but if you want a 22kW wallbox (the batteries in cars are getting bigger), a pool heater, air conditioning, home automation, etc., it will get tight.
