We are currently finalizing plans for a building on a slope.
We're doing it as suggested by Ysop and basically building without a basement, with 2 full floors where the lower floor is partially embedded in the slope. If planned cleverly, this can be used quite well. For us, among other things, the technical room goes down there, as well as a long wall in the office for desks/monitors, and a storage room. You should consider which rooms might be suitable for you there, possibly.

We didn't include the KFW funding anymore. Did you get an offer without it, i.e. 55 standard / new energy saving ordinance standard?
For us, with all providers, the extra cost for the KFW40 thing was significantly higher than the funding.
Edit: That reminds me – the loan is already approved, so KFW is probably set, I assume?

That would of course be an option to rethink the whole thing that way. But that would delay the whole project further.

you are wronging the companies. What has been happening for a few weeks has never happened before. Delivery difficulties and price increases have existed since early 2021 to a considerable extent, the last 6 weeks are crazy.

There are already "order confirmations" that more or less say the order has been received and will be delivered at some point at the then applicable daily price.

I don't know if any of the forum members work in the construction industry and can refute or want to refute my assumption. But I consider this approach to be an attempt to increase the profit of the construction company and I am curious how long they will get away with it. As a non-expert, I assume that a construction company makes you, for example, an offer with profit margin and a certain buffer, of course, and as soon as you have signed the contract, they purchase the necessary materials (and store them?).

The higher costs for the construction company, in my assumption, only arise when you sign the contract and the company only buys the materials weeks or months later, or am I seeing this wrong? Or the company sells you something they don't even have and/or are known not to receive for months, like a certain heating system. In my opinion, they should not sell you a house with this specific heating system, but rather a house with the model of a deliverable heating system, the price of which the construction company knows.

I could also imagine that construction companies were in a fairly comfortable situation in recent years, maybe ordering materials arbitrarily late or only ordering shortly before installation and are now having certain problems with more precise planning.

Actually, that was my thought as well and I mentioned it. They can't advance payments for every project and order everything after the signature and put it into storage. For example, we would get the heating system in winter and it will then only be ordered at that time at the current price.
