I think Nordlys is concerned with the superficiality of such renamings. Personally, I find the renaming acceptable, but I would never have thought to associate Roma and Sinti mentally or otherwise with Zigeuners. For me, Zigeuners are fictional characters from opera and operetta and have as little to do with real people as the Vulcan Spock or the hobbit Frodo.

Why are they produced less and not more? Because for years there has been a ban on new registrations of combustion engine vehicles being considered and it surely will not take long to come into effect.

That is your benevolent interpretation, but not what is written there. "The city dwellers" are just as little a homogeneous group as "the rural population," "the well-off academics," and for that matter also "the white man" :) Wanting differentiation for oneself, but not providing it in return, is simply not a promising culture of discussion.

It might also have something to do with expectations of innovation: Tesla’s market value is now higher than the top ten traditional automobile manufacturers combined. And no, that’s not because 'Annalena' was sworn in as Foreign Minister eleven days ago.

As additional information: I personally am also skeptical about electric mobility. Simply replacing propulsion technology A with B is, in my opinion, too shortsighted.

You actually managed to unsettle me, even if your post was perhaps meant jokingly. Honestly, I have no idea. I also regularly wonder, when reading perpetrator descriptions in police reports, why they are allowed to write "man." If I were a man, I would defend myself against that.

Somehow people have to be protected from continuing to buy combustion engines. Otherwise, they buy the biggest polluters and then look utterly shocked when in five years they can't afford the fuel anymore. Then everyone yells about how stupid the government was and why it didn’t do anything. Then they turn to the radicals and we have a mess. That's exactly what's happening right now with gas. Everyone knows where we get that stuff from, how harmful it is, how dependent we are, and yet they keep installing those things. Now it turns out how stupid that was and everyone is screaming. So better prevention. There is far too little of it in this country. Others are further ahead. With Corona, heating, and of course cars.
