Construction costs are currently skyrocketing

Here is a very concrete offer from a Polish supplier. They are 8/6/8 double rod mesh panels, hot-dip galvanized and powder coated in gray. The price is net, but I was able to negotiate a little further :)

Damn, that is really very cheap! We had already looked up four prices and the cheapest was from the farthest provider (we try to order regionally whenever possible). But I never would have thought that the material in Poland is so much cheaper. Also, the installation is a bargain! They must drill tons of holes in the ground, use quick concrete, fix the fence, screw everything, etc. It takes at least 2 men and a full day for that – or am I mistaken?

Mid-April sanitary sample selection for 2 bathrooms done. Material prices continuously noted: total ~9k. Today asked where the offer is because we finally want certainty and it was communicated by phone: 14k.

Don't worry, made 3 phone calls to avoid misunderstandings and synchronized the comparability of the two prices (i.e. contents) and still it is supposed to cost 5k more now – mind you, in 3 months!

Directly informed the general contractor in writing that the bathroom hardware will now be done by ourselves (this was already agreed upon in advance).

Some still haven’t heard the bang or we just haven’t gotten used to the perceived price doublings yet.

Milking as long as the cow gives milk. For 14k you get plenty of high-quality "hardware." Almost no one will install it for you because everyone wants to make a good profit on the "hardware." Of course with hefty hourly rates and nicely rounded up as labor costs, you can also earn threefold from the customer.
