small example of material availability:

At the beginning of March, vinyl flooring was selected and was supposedly available ... a week later the message came "before Sep 2021" it won't happen.

Another floor was selected ... here the same game, first promised then postponed to the end of August.

Backing material is apparently not available. The manufacturer is apparently several thousand sqm behind.

small example of price:

KVH 40x60 in September 2020 0.85 Euro/lfm
KVH 40x60 in April 2021 1.65 Euro/lfm and only what is in stock is available. Replenishment unknown.

At the moment it feels to me like you have to take what you get and not what you like best. Unless you have a lot of time and a lot of money...

I can only emphasize from the circle of acquaintances that people have time and money. Either time due to home office or short-time work and money because of not taking vacation or not consuming (restaurants etc.).

Many have renewed their kitchens, do a lot in the garden, some lay floors. These small projects and do-it-yourself activities also contribute to increased demand. And just because there is demand now, a flooring manufacturer will not just build a new factory out of nowhere.

Then I selfishly hope that everyone is either finished or has less time by the beginning of 2022.

If at all, then the latter:

"In newly constructed residential buildings, a total of 23,822 apartments were approved in January 2021. This was 6.8% more than in the previous month, adjusted for season and calendar effects. The number of building permits for single-family houses increased by 9.3% and those for two-family houses by 5.7%."

Source: Federal Statistical Office

It does not look to me as if a decline in demand for material is to be expected in the coming months.

The increase compared to the previous month and all other months before (going back to summer 20) is probably related to the end of the construction child benefit. Nobody buys property because they are bored.
