So I definitely don’t want Senec junk standing in the basement or anywhere else. Weeks-long forced shutdowns of the systems and very expensive to purchase. Of course, the Senec Cloud only works with Senec devices.
3 exploded houses are certainly enough to thoroughly ruin the reputation for now.
Otherwise, there is no power cloud that makes sense even for the small photovoltaic owner. Large systems go into direct marketing anyway, which looks different again.
A factor of 2 would be fair for both sides. I feed 2 kWh into the power cloud and get 1 kWh back in winter.
Unfortunately, you don’t hear anything about pumped storage power plants or compressed air storage for small consumers. It’s all just hot air. And without the Chinese, we wouldn’t even have battery storage up and running yet.
Have you dealt with the topic or is this just another pub talk slogan? It’s not news that storage systems are generally not entirely safe. Just look at how many phone batteries and now also e-bike batteries regularly catch fire. And we don’t even want to talk about Teslas ;)
3 out of about 80,000 systems is not exactly a rate that worries me. My car could catch fire, I could be run over by a bus, or something else could happen.
The forced shutdown was annoying, yes, but Senec compensated with more money than I saved with a functioning storage during that time. And I’ve often heard that the storage is expensive, but I can’t confirm that for myself. It also depends on which solar installer you buy from. Mine wasn’t cheap price-wise, but including subsidies, it was acceptable in my eyes.
Also, it’s not even clear whether the storages were actually responsible for the explosions in the houses.
