I never know whether I should keep complaining or be happy that I am still even able to build (have built) a house

What did you use to carry out the measurement yourself? Were you able to borrow the device somewhere or ...?

I am still waiting until 1. the house is finished and 2. also at the agreed price. With things like this, I always get a bit scared that at some point the general contractor will invoke §313. But if all this works out, we have actually just managed to complete the house before the window closed for now.

There are so-called VOC sensors (see search engine) or corresponding products that constantly monitor and display the indoor air quality. For a few years now, for example, I have had the Netatmo indoor air sensor (with HomeKit integration), which I currently have in the new house in the attic... In all rooms of the house, I have Bosch Twinguards hanging (also HomeKit), which function as smoke detectors and simultaneously display room temperature, humidity, and air quality. You can very well monitor the air quality or see how it changes as soon as people are present in the room. How much it worsens at night in the bedroom, for example, or how quickly it settles back to the optimum after getting up and running controlled residential ventilation...

I completely block out both cases, partly because I have no control over it and partly because I would certainly sleep worse if I worried about it. I am anything but gullible, but right now I have to have trust in the general contractor and the project. I really agree with you there, but I will only start to worry when the time comes :D Besides, I checked the contract from our general contractor, clause by clause, and there was so much nonsense in it that has no place in a construction contract, I’m sure they don’t have a Building Code in their office (yes, I’m sugarcoating it :p)

Contract and trust are all well and good, but if it is no longer economically feasible, it doesn't help. It’s like with gas. If someone at the start of the chain has to work uneconomically, it affects everyone behind in the medium term. Either through bankruptcy or price adjustments. In case of bankruptcy, usually both. And you don't even have to have a building code yourself if the Chamber of Crafts publishes the first articles in its member magazine about how to enforce prices ;)
