The issue of electricity is unfortunately always highly individual. I work for a basic supplier and if you sign up directly with us, it is, for example, significantly more expensive than if you sign up with one of the municipal utilities we supply, even though the procurement problems apply to both groups. This has to do with the long-term contracts.
The MediaMarkt tariff is currently not available online as almost all suppliers have stopped or significantly reduced their new customer business. In particular, the basic suppliers have been receiving unplanned new customer volumes all year, which further fuels the dilemma.
But: Our internal planning currently assumes that the situation will normalize again by spring, meaning we are talking about falling prices. There are actually already considerations to proactively move customers who sign up now to cheaper tariffs since it is currently assumed that the price war will start again in spring. Of course, there is still a lot of speculation involved.
Just maybe to put the whole thing into perspective and a little insight.
