I also did that every year until last year, for gas and electricity. I never had any problems with any providers. You just have to be careful not to buy annual packages.

We also switch back and forth cheerfully. It hardly takes any effort but saves a lot of money. In my experience, as a regular customer you always end up paying more than new customers at some point, and I absolutely do not accept that.

What do you mean by that?? Elli Strom "Blue" is an annual package... hmm... how else do you keep the price fixed for a year?

This is a tariff/contract with a one-year term, but not a yearly package like I buy so many kWh in advance. Because if you did that, your money would be gone for the paid package. There used to be a provider where you could do that, but then they went bankrupt. I can't remember the name right now. Now that I think about it, I still have a claim from back then, I think.

By the way, it’s the same with mobile phone providers. I can only recommend sending a cancellation notice shortly before the contract expires with o2 and then waiting for the customer service call. We currently pay, I believe, 23€ per month for 2 phones with flat rates, after we had canceled and were given a stay offer.
