The objection is justified. How much is the roof over the old car even worth? You can also get storage space in other - cheaper - ways.

For example, I’ve decided to store items I need once a year, like Christmas decorations, skis, a wakeboard, special tools and scaffolding, roof box, heater, wood splitter, and so on, for €50 per month in a barn 1.5 km away, covered. (15m2) Creating living space for something like that simply isn’t worth it in 50 years. PS: besides, I don’t even want to see that stuff anyway

It's not about pity. It's about the comparison: 60k garage vs. 80k earthworks, foundation slab, and masonry of a 138 sqm bungalow.

And no. Masonry will start at the beginning of January as soon as the weather allows. The plan is 10.01.2022. Thanks for asking

That is probably the difference between Brandenburg (Einzugsgebiet Berlin) and southern Bavaria

I just went through my building application documents from the architect.
97€/m3 of built-up space for the garage are specified. (rohnau)
I was just slightly above that with my own work.
It was due to the brickwork, otherwise it would have fit.
For the house, we were at 394€/m3 shell construction + interior finishing invoice group 300+400.
It would have worked if we hadn’t spent another 40-50 grand on appropriate interior furnishings (masonry stove, lift-and-slide door, 2.60m high entrance portal, 180 sockets, 16 cameras, partly exposed stone walls inside, etc. etc.).
If I hadn’t done most of it myself and/or outsourced it, we would have definitely been over budget by 100%. This way it’s okay, roughly 1400€/m2 + additional construction costs + land.

However, that was also 18 months of hard work + contacts + construction machines available from private sources. That should be mentioned.

What I don't understand is how many people still plan their houses with a calculation under 2500 €/sqm. Friends of ours are currently planning a house with a large! solidly built double garage and 240 sqm of living space and some frills and were reportedly given a total price of 450,000 euros by the construction company. Near Hamburg. I’m curious to see what actually has to be paid in the end. Or they're fooling us because they don't want to admit to us poor suckers that they are paying three quarters of a million for a house.
