Then rather a nice condominium with janitorial service and mandatory reserve funds for necessary renovation measures and from the beginning lower additional costs.
I would make it dependent on the age of the person. When the "first generation," usually the owners, live in the house, it usually seems to work quite well. When this generation then dies off and the heirs rent out, problems often begin. Most condominium owners I know would rather move out today than tomorrow if they could. My aunt, who lives alone, doesn't even dare to use the elevator anymore because there have already been unpleasant situations there and she has a really great penthouse apartment with an approximately 25sqm roof garden terrace.
I said there must be people who like multi-family houses...
If the apartments are well insulated, the two bathrooms have windows, and the community of residents is okay, I prefer an apartment downtown or close to it over my own single-family house in the commuter belt of a big city (?). But even two daylight bathrooms seem to be a challenge in multi-family houses, which I have never understood. Maybe others know better what the problem is. For me, that was always a deal-breaker, no matter how nice the apartment otherwise was.
